Center for Rappahannock-Rapidan Enviornmental Stewardship
(CRRES)
Environmental planning is a long-standing area of emphasis
for the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission (RRRC).
Recent efforts include coordination of Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL)
studies on behalf of the Department of Environmental Quality, and participation
in water supply planning efforts of the Rappahannock River Basin Commission
(RRBC). The commission has also been involved with area students, as was the
case with a recent watershed education initiative funded by the National
Fish and Wildlife Foundation, as well as water supply planning for localities within our region.
The commission provides an essential regional perspective on increasingly
critical water and related resource issues.
Through its experience in, and commitment to, the public participation
process, the Commission can also ensure that the diversity of community
opinion on such matters is consistently represented.
