Overview

Rural Transportation Planning

Transportation Planning services in the Rappahannock-Rapidan Region are supported by a 80-20 grant from VDOT to assist localities with a variety of transportation planning activities. Providing transportation planning services to the localities of our region combines new initiatives and a continuation of successful existing services. The R-RRC serves as a regional liaison to Local Transportation Committees, and provides technical assistance for localities, including an overview of transportation plans, GIS technical expertise, and attendance at local meetings as a regional transportation representative. We also assist the VDOT with Statewide Highway Needs Assessments including conducting and arranging public information meetings.

Currently, the Regional Commission is coordinating, along with VDOT representatives and local planning and transportatin stakeholders, the RRRC Regional Long-Range Plan.
