The 2006 Rappahannock-Rapidan DSB Needs Assessment is available!

Meeting Announcement:  The next quarterly meeting of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board will be held in early summer. Please check back for meeting date and time or contact Patrick Mauney at (540) 829-7450 for more information.

The mission of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board (RRDSB) is to plan and advocate for persons of all ages in Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock Counties who have physical and/or sensory disabilities, and to fulfill the duties and responsibilities as specified for a Disability Services Board in Section 51.5-48, Code of Virginia.

The Board's vision is barrier-free communities supporting independent living and self-sufficiency for people with disabilities.

To fulfill the mission and vision, the goals of the RRDSB are to:

• Learn the needs of area residents who have physical and/or sensory disabilities.
• Raise local and state awareness of those needs.
• Foster innovations to include people with disabilities into mainstream community life.

Members of the RRDSB are:

John McCarthy (Rappahannock County), Chairman
Philip Cooke (Orange County), Vice Chairman
W.F. Yogi Bear and William R. Welch (Rappahannock County)
Bob Miller and Christiane Miller (Madison County)
Elouise Poindexter and Rebecca Yellets (Orange County)

The Board's local Department of Rehabilitative Services liaison is Sharon Miller.

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board meets quarterly. Meeting locations vary. Please call (540) 829-7450 to confirm meeting dates, locations, and times.

Please click here for a copy of the 2006 Needs Assessment (1,090 KB) completed by the Rappahannock-Rapidan DSB in March 2006. Needs Assessment are completed triennially by each DSB throughout the state of Virginia.
