Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board

Effective June 1, 2009, the General Assembly has removed the mandate and administrative funding for Disability Services Boards in Virginia. The Rappahannock-Rapidan DSB will no longer hold quarterly meetings after that date. Additional information is available here.

The mission of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Disability Services Board (RRDSB) is to plan and advocate for persons of all ages in Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock Counties who have physical and/or sensory disabilities, and to fulfill the duties and responsibilities as specified for a Disability Services Board in Section 51.5-48, Code of Virginia.

The Board's vision is barrier-free communities supporting independent living and self-sufficiency for people with disabilities.

To fulfill the mission and vision, the goals of the RRDSB are to:

Learn the needs of area residents who have physical and/or sensory disabilities.
Raise local and state awareness of those needs.
Foster innovations to include people with disabilities into mainstream community life.
