Regional Long-Range Transportation Plan
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has
begun a new initiative-- regional transportation plans for rural areas,
modeled after the existing metropolitan planning process. This collaborative
planning initiative is to be undertaken in conjunction with Virginia's
Planning District Commissions (PDC), local governments and the public.
View our Regional Long Range Plan webpage
for detailed meeting materials and other information.
Piedmont Rail Coalition
The Piedmont
Rail Coalition was created in response to growing interest throughout
the region including Planning Districts 9, 10, 11 and 12. The Piedmont
Rail Coalition is a consortium of local governments, businesses and organizations
that share a vital interest in providing citizens with additional passenger
rail options to and from the population and commercial centers to the
north.

TEA-21 Grant Writing Assistance and Administration
The RRRC assists town, local and state agencies, organizations and community
groups in the writing of TEA-21 Transportation Enhancement Program grant
applications. Once awarded, the Commission administers the TEA 21 grants,
along with developing related applications for funding. Successful TEA-21
grants prepared by the Regional Commission have included the Salem Meeting
House Rehabilitation Project, Gordonsville Train Depot Restoration, Goose
Creek Bridge Renovations, Mosby Heritage Signage program, and Remington
Area Bicycle and Pedestrian Facility Enhancement Project.

VDOT Small Urban Area Transportation Plans
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently completed its
project to update the transportation plans of 46 designated "small
urban areas" across the Commonwealth (towns and cities with populations
of less than 50,000 people). The plans address transportation issues and identify
travel needs in each community through the year 2020 and were completed for the towns of Culpeper, Orange and Warrenton in the RRRC area.
