The Farm to School Liaison is a coordinative planning position that will assist local school districts in the region with their farm to school efforts. The position will also allow the selected candidate to gain experience in related areas of mutual interest, including food systems planning, tourism, and environmental and natural resources planning. The selected candidate will possess a combination of education, experience, and willingness to contribute time and expertise to an organization committed to regional collaboration, professionalism, and creative approaches and solutions to issues common to RRRC’s member jurisdictions and regional partners. 

Education and Experience
•    Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, nutrition, education or other related field from an accredited secondary institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 
•    Master’s degree preferred
•    1-2 years previous experience in agriculture, nutrition, education, food system planning or a related field is preferred.  Previous experience in school nutrition is a plus.

AmeriCorps VISTA (Foothills Housing Network)

In partnership with the Virginia Housing Alliance, the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission is actively seeking a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA member to work with Foothills Housing Network to support efforts to end homelessness in the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock. The successful VISTA will continue previous efforts of past AmeriCorps members in developing enhanced capacity with RRRC and partner organizations, and advance strategic activities designed to improve outcomes for anyone entering the homeless services system in the region and across Virginia.

The VISTA member will focus on enhanced data tracking and analysis for decision making within the Foothills Housing Netwrk Local Planning Group (LPG), implementing training for FHN member organizations and their employees, to include housing first, case management, and new processes and procedures while using a lens of racial equity, and developing a broader, standardized Access System. The VISTA will also support efforts by RRRC and FHN partner organizations to increase public knowledge regarding poverty, homelessness, and the need for affordable housing within the region through strategic outreach efforts, other organizations with similar missions, and to the general public.

Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) VISTA project is a statewide project that works to expand affordable housing opportunities and end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons.  As an AmeriCorps VISTA with VHA, you agree to a 12-month service term beginning August 16, 2021, and will receive a modest living allowance, health care benefits and we as a choice of an education award worth approximately $6,000 or an end-of-service stipend of approximately $1,800, and much more!
