Position Announcement & Description

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission seeks an energetic and detail-oriented self-starter for its Farm to School Associate position. The successful applicant will be able to work independently and in collaboration with local school nutrition programs within the region in supporting ongoing farm to school efforts, and will provide support to other Regional Commission programmatic areas including environmental and natural resources planning, regional tourism and food system planning.

Education and experience in agriculture, nutrition, food system planning, sustainability, marketing or other relevant areas is required. The position may be filled at the Planner or Planner I level, depending on qualifications and experience. Some remote work is anticipated with this position.

In partnership with the Virginia Housing Alliance, the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission is actively seeking an organized, flexible and empathetic individual to serve as the Training, Development, & Equity VISTA. A primary focus of the VISTA year will be to develop community partnerships, identify locations for in-person assessments, and seek methods for utilizing FHN data in decision-making and project management on a regional level. The VISTA will focus on enhanced data collection and tracking of CoC projects on disparities in referrals, services, and assistance among folks experiencing homelessness, and implementing Housing First best practices for FHN members using a lens of racial equity. They will also support efforts by FHN partners to increase public knowledge regarding poverty and homelessness within the region through strategic outreach efforts with a particular focus on racial equity, faith-based, and healthcare organizations.

Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) VISTA project is a statewide project that works to expand affordable housing opportunities and end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons.  As an AmeriCorps VISTA with VHA, you agree to a 12-month service term beginning August 14, 2023, and will receive a modest living allowance, health care benefits and we as a choice of an education award worth approximately $6,495 or an end-of-service stipend of approximately $1,800, and much more!
